Chemistry lab 2
Today at exactly 9.00 we started with our 2nd chemistry lab. Of course we tried to do our lab as good as possible so we started to find out the best way to accomplish our measurements.
With a tasting of the four different alcohols we definitely set the starting point of todays lab. Afterwards we boiled 100ml water above all the liquids (Ethanol, Butanol, Methanol, Propanol). We put the water in our favourite conical flask and got it ready for the "Nobelparty" by vesting it with a really nice aluminium dress. We heated the water until it was 40°C warmer. Caroline's best experience today, was to find out that hot aluminum is quite hot and that's really easy to burn the fingers when playing with fire. When we were finished, she had soot up to her elbows...
